Is the Premier League heading to Manchester?
We are five games into this seasons instalment of the Premier League and we have got a sense of each teams capabilities and where we think they will finish come May.
Two teams that have come flying out of the blocks this season are the two Manchester clubs in City and United. The two teams are sat at the top of the table only separated on alphabetical order. Both teams have amassed an impressive sixteen goals each in just five games and both have conceded just two goals. An incredible stat to take from this is that of all the goals scored this season the two Manchester clubs have registered 26% of them. This in itself is a crazy stat.
Is it a two horse race?
It’s too early to say that it will be a two horse race when we have so many teams with great squads such as Tottenham and Chelsea etc. But it does seem that the two Manchester clubs definitely have the momentum going into the season which has been reflected in their starts.
United have started Brilliantly with their new striker Lukaku looking like a bargain for his 75 million pound transfer fee. Mourinho is determined to bring the good times back to Old Trafford and I’m backing them to win more silverware this season. The Champions League is going to be the toughest obstacle for Manchester United as they struggled last year with Europa League commitments. They have a great starting XI but I don’t feel like they have the greatest squad depth compared to Manchester City who have recruited very well and have three players for every position. However, with Zlatan set to come back towards January United could completely prove me wrong and fight on all fronts which is a real possibility as long as they don’t get any major injuries.
Over on the blue half of Manchester it’s certainly looking good right now for Pep Guardiolas men who are simply flying. City have scored 15 goals in their last three games without conceding and the front two of Aguero and Jesus looks unstoppable. Kevin De Bruyne for me is in the top 3 midfielders in word football and his performances so far this season have been nothing short of amazing. I can see City having a ridiculously good season winning more than one trophy which should be the aim considering the money that has been spent.
It must be a great feeling to support a Manchester team at this moment in time.
Can anyone else stop the momentum and challenge for the League with the two Manchester clubs? Let us know in the comments section below…
