Manchester City host Shakhtar Donetsk in the Uefa Champions league tonight and City will be hoping to carry on their good run of form. If City win it will be the first time they have won their opening two Champions League fixtures since they started competing in the competition.
Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy faces a late fitness test for Tuesday’s Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk at Etihad Stadium. Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan (knee) and defender Vincent Kompany (calf) are not yet fit.
Manchester City have been in scintillating form since the season kicked off and the club have scored a massive 27 goals in just nine league games. Also in their first match of their Champions League campaign they demolished Feyenoord in Rotterdam eventually winning the game 4-0.
Should Sergio Aguero inevitably find the net in tonights match he will equal Eric Brooks record of most goals for Manchester City on 177. Should he score two he will break that record to become the clubs all time top scorer. It is worth noting that Aguero has played 234 less games than Brook which is a phenomenal stat.
Shakhtar Donetsk captain Darijo Srna to miss Manchester City clash after testing positive for banned substance. The player has denied the allegations and has made himself not available for the game. He is a good player who Donetsk will miss not that City fans will mind.
It will be an interesting game but I just can’t look away from Manchester City as they are playing some brilliant football and are just steam rolling past teams so my money would firmly be on a big home win.
