When the Bhoy becomes a Man-chester
Last night, Celtic took a three point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with a 3-0 win away at Aberdeen, with the star of the show being left back Kieran Tierney.
The Scotland international scored the first and assisted the second, as well as helping keep a clean sheet in the crucial win at Pittodrie.
However, these consistent performances have added to the speculation that the Celtic fan, who has been at Parkhead since he was seven, may be heading south of the border.
There were links in summer to Old Trafford or White Hart Lane. But it seems that now, or January more specifically, may be the perfect time for the 20 year old to head to Manchester.
With Luke Shaw fearing his Manchester United exit and being demoted to the U23’s, it could be the perfect time for José Mourinho to look for an alternative left back, and the Celtic man may be the perfect choice.
Tierney has had experience playing at the highest level, in the biggest games and most atmospheric. He has been tearing Scottish attacks and defences to shreds and has already made himself one of the first names on the national teamsheet at just 20 years old.
He certainly has the quality of being a top left back in the Premier League, playing the best week in week out. However, as a Celtic fan and being the fans’ favourite player at the club, would he leave everything he has known for more than half of his life.
Brendan Rodgers is building a squad capable of the Champions League, and with playing in Europe and three medals already to his name, it would definitely be a tough decision for Tierney, but one he would have to make.
