If Harry Kane never plays another game, or scores another goal for Tottenham, he would still go down in the clubs history as one of their best ever strikers. The “one season wonder” is now undoubtedly one of the best strikers in world football, but can Spurs fulfil his trophy desires?
Over recent years, Spurs have been transformed into title challengers under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino, with Harry Kane very much the main man in his system. Kane has netted 125 goals for Pochettino’s side and been a pivotal player in two unsuccessful title challenges.
But the question Kane must now ask himself is- can Tottenham win a major trophy? Tottenham’s squad over recent years has promised much, but has delivered very little in terms of results. They definitely have the players capable of winning a trophy, but what they may be lacking is experience when the weight of expectation is on them. Many fans and experts are of the opinion, that if Spurs were going to win the title, there best chance of doing so has passed.
At the age of 24, Kane is still a young man with plenty of time left to fill out his trophy cabinet. And Kane has to look no further than fellow Spurs Legend Teddy Sheringham for inspiration, who didn’t win his first major trophy till he was 33, then went on to win the lot.
Speculation of a move away for Kane are always floating around, with Real Madrid and Manchester United both being linked. If Kane harbours any aspirations of winning silverware and being regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation, a move away from White Heart Lane may be necessary.
