Peterborough United have today confirmed, the appointment of Darren Ferguson and his Assistant Gavin Strachan, son of manager Gordon Strachan, as their new management team on 3 year contracts.
Though this is new, the appointment is the 3rd Time that Ferguson has taken charge at Peterborough and the Owners of the club have stated
“It was vitally important that we appointed a manager that we can trust and who understands our core philosophies as a club. The style of play, production of young players and taking on young and hungry talent and developing those players is what Peterborough United is renowned for and in the last 18 months we have veered away from that.
Ferguson’s previous times in charge at Peterborough have seen the club enjoy good success and it seems, that though he has stepped away from the club before, quite possibly, it is his spiritual home.
Appointed as Interim boss in December, results haven’t been kind so far for him and his team, with the Posh lying 17th in the current form table with 4 defeats from their last 6, which is not ideal form for their current position.
However, Ferguson will want the team to be organised, efficient and hopefully thrust Peterborough back to winning ways fairly quickly, so though they are not enjoying the best of fortunes now, that will not last long.
As Darragh MacAnthony Stated
Both Stewart and Jason have loved working with Darren and although the results on the pitch have not been anywhere near where we would have liked, it is not about the current form, it is about the long-term aspirations of this football club.
Can Peterbrough push their way out of their poor form under Ferguson’s tutelage or will they continue on their downward spiral?
