Coventry City youngster embarrasses himself and the club in a drunken video.
Coventry City defender, Jak Hickman has apologised after footage was released of him drunk, while on holiday, ranting about the football club and fans.
The 20 year old has yet to make a league appearance for the Sky Blues and has been shifted out on loan three times to Mickleover Sports, Ashton United and Hereford, where he made 8 appearances for the side.
Hickman was seen recording himself on Snapchat surrounded by a number of players including teammate, Tom Bayliss.
In the video, which went on for over two minutes, Hickman says that he is leaving Coventry this summer alongside his fellow teammate, Bayliss, as well as criticising the club and it’s fans with expletives.
He also went on to boast about the weight of his pockets, referring to his earnings and disrespectfully objectifying women.
With the release of the video, Hickman has received a lot of criticism and backlash for his drunken antics and issued an apology to the fans.
He says, “Just want to speak on the video what people seen yesterday.
“It’s disgraceful on my behalf saying them words and I’m so disappointed in myself, I’m not going to try and condone what I said because it’s just not on.
“I have nothing but love for Coventry City Football Club. I know a lot of people have had their opinion what they saw and I cannot blame them.
“I’m on holiday with friends and I had a drink but that is not an excuse for what I said.
“All I can say is sorry and try to prove myself to you on the pitch where it matters, if I get the chance.
“I and anyone else I mentioned are not leaving their club just to clear that up, it was drunken words which were not acceptable and I didn’t want anything I said to be seen.
“People who know me personally will know what I’m like and will laugh but if you don’t I cannot blame you for thinking I’m an idiot.
“But it’s happened now, all I can do personally now is try and put it right.”
In a separate Tweet, he continued to say, “Secondly, I just want to say as fans of the club you lot shouldn’t have to see someone giving it the big one like that, thinking I’m something special when I’m far from it.”
The club confirmed that they will deal with the situation internally, which means Hickman’s career could be in jeopardy.
