Have Wolves left themselves short?

Its fair to say that the Wolves owners have backed manager Nuno Espirito Santo in this summers transfer window, after they sanctioned the signing of Ruben Neves, Roderick Miranda and Barry Douglas to name a few, and on deadline day the club were linked PSV Eindhoven striker Jurgen Locadia.

Late on in the day though, PSV pulled the plug on the deal after deciding they didn’t want to sell him, which leaves Wolves with just two strikers in Leo Bonatini and Bright Enobakhare.

Whilst everybody connected with Wolves will be disappointed not have landed Locadia due to no fault of their own, you have to ask the question why leave it so late on in the window to sign a new striker?

The club also let strikers Joe Mason and Nouha Dicko leave Molineux this window, and despite starting the Championship season strong, if Leo Bonatini or Bright Enobakhare get injured then it leaves them short on numbers up top which in the long run could ultimately cost them going up this season.

Ross Barkley Rejects Champions

Ross Barkley has just rejected a move to Chelsea in the past few moments, despite the clubs agreeing a deal worth £35m.

Is this a good move on his part? Yes and No, realistically he isn’t good enough for Chelsea and the squad they have.

After the recent saga he has had after rejecting a new contract with Everton, he won’t get into the squad now. With the new additions of Klaassen and Sigurdsson it is hard to see Barkley been first choice and could find himself down the order in terms of getting picked for the starting XI.

Barkley has less then a year left on his contract and could leave Goodison Park at the end of this season on a free transfer, but with this unexpected u-turn and the England international on his way back to Everton, it remains to be seen if he will sit down with manager Ronald Koeman and possibly sign a new deal.

What do you think Everton fans? Are you happy that Barkley has stayed or do you want rid of him?

3 managers that could take the Northampton hot seat

Northampton Town have today parted company with manager Justin Edinburgh following the clubs poor start to the League One season.

The ‘Cobblers’ have lost all five games so far this season, conceding 10 goals and only scoring twice. With it transfer deadline day it gives any new manager coming into the club no chance to make any signings of there own until January, meaning that they are going to have to work with the playing personnel already in place at the club.

Below we look at 3 potential candidates that could take the Northampton Town hot seat.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – The dutchman has previous experience of managing in England, as he led Burton Albion to the League Two title back in 2015, a promotion that would see Burton play in League One for the first time in their clubs history.

As well as managing Burton, Hasselbaink has further previous managerial experience as he managed Royal Antwerp prior to his stint at the Pirelli Stadium and following his departure from the Staffordshire outfit, he went on to manage QPR.

Steven Pressley – Having had plenty of managerial experience, Pressley could be seen as a terrific candidate for the Northampton job. Pressley started his permanent managerial career with Falkirk in Scotland, before moving to manage Coventry and Fleetwood respectively.

Again Pressley has plenty of experience in management and is actively looking for a job back in football as he linked himself to the Hearts job last week, before Craig Levein was appointed their manager.

David Kerslake – Kerslake has taken over as caretaker manager at the club, and will be looking to make a statement to the clubs owners to be given the job on a permanent basis.

Despite having no previous managerial experience, Kerslake has plenty of coaching experience, having been assistant to Colin Calderwood at Northampton and then as a coach under him at Nottingham Forest. He also had spells at Cardiff City and was then appointed Justin Edinburgh’s assistant at Gillingham and then he returned to Northampton under Edinburgh again.

West Ham should look to take this midfielder on loan

West Ham have had the worse possible start the Premier League season after they have lost their first 3 games, scoring just 2 goals and conceding 10.

Manager Slavan Bilic met with the clubs owners earlier in the week to discuss the start to the season with many thinking it was the end of the Croatians tenure with the ‘Hammers’, but he has been aloud to continue in his role and the club appear to be backing him in this transfer window as they had a loan offer rejected this morning for Everton winger Kevin Mirallas.

They were also heavily linked with Sporting CP player William Carvalho but the clubs couldn’t agree a fee so the deal collapsed, leaving the ‘Hammers’ looking around for new targets.

One midfielder that looks to be available in this window, having been linked with Birmingham City is Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Jack Wilshere – The Arsenal midfielder spent last season out on loan at Bournemouth to get some game time after coming back from injury, and after not being involved with the first team in the Premier League games so far this season, it appears he is down the pecking order at the Emirates stadium so may look for a move away.

With Bilic clearly looking for a player that can sit in front of the defence after being linked with William Carvalho, he could turn his attentions to Wilshere ahead of the transfer window shutting. The only stumbling block would be if Wilshere would head to London rivals West Ham from Arsenal.

Upon This Rock: Perfect Start

Possibly the best start Peterborough United could have hoped for this season, winning their first four games of the season.

Wins over Plymouth, Bristol Rover, Rotherham and Northampton have fired the Posh to the top of League 1 at the end of August.

Grant McCann has a lot to be happy about with how his side have started the season aswell. Going forward they look deadly with Jack Marriott up top who has already scored six times out of those four games.

There was a lot of questions from fans after a very disappointing season last year, after starting so strong The Posh faded away in the second half of the season but now it looks like the squad have found something different that is working for them and it’s exiting to watch them again,

Will this form continue? I hope so, despite the fact the team would defiantly struggle in the Championship it would always be stunning to have huge teams from the championship come to London Road,

Peterborough go away to newly promoted Doncaster Rovers on Saturday and if this start is anything to go by Posh should be coming out the gates and attack The Rovers, It’s the first time McCann will go head to head with his former Manager, Darren Ferguson, so will be great to see the two reunited.
