Coventry City made a decent start to their League Two campaign as they won back to back games in their first two outings. Since then though the club lost their next two league fixtures at home to Newport County and away to Yeovil Town, and lost their opening EFL Trophy game to Shrewsbury Town.
With the run of defeats, it is clear that manager Mark Robins is going to have to enter the transfer market to recruit new players to ensure that the ‘Sky Blues’ are competing towards the top end of the League Two table, come the end of the current campaign.
With that in mind the club should look to bring back experienced midfielder Carl Baker.
Carl Baker – Deemed surplus to requirements at his current club Portsmouth, Baker will be looking for another club ahead of Thursday transfer deadline. Having played for Coventry between 2010 and 2014, the attacking midfielder knows the club well and could provide vital experience in the midfield to help Coventry succeed this season.
Whilst with the Midlands outfit Baker was at the most prolific time throughout his career in front of goal as he found the back of the net on 28 occasions, showing that he certainly has an eye for goal.
A move back to Coventry could certainly turn out to be a great deal for both parties, but with only over a day of the transfer window left, Coventry are going to have to move quickly to land Baker.
