One more defeat and he’s gone?

Its hard to believe that after just 3 games into the new Premier League campaign we are talking about the first possible managerial casualty.

Crystal Palace have made the worse possible start to the new season as they have lost all 3 of their opening fixtures, and have yet to score a league goal.

Manager Frank De Boer was announced as the successor to Sam Allardyce who stepped down from his post at Selhurst Park back in June. Upon the Dutchman’s appointment there was a sense of optimism around ‘The Eagles’ that they could go on and have a very good season, under the former Ajax and Inter Milan manager.

Bringing in players such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Timothy Fosu Mensah on loan, as well as completing a €9m move for AFC Ajax defender Jairo Reidewald had given the fans further belief that the club were heading in the right direction and De Boer was the man to steer them away from a team that just stayed up every year, and turn them into a solid mid table outfit.

After an opening day thumping by newly promoted Huddersfield Town 3-0 at home, and this backed up with two further defeats to Liverpool and Swansea City respectively, the Dutchman has found himself under huge pressure so early on in his tenure.

Nothing short of 3 points away at Turf Moor this weekend would be good enough for the club, who desperately need to find some kind of form otherwise they could find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle and worse than that for De Boer he could very well found himself out of a job come Monday morning.

Crystal Palace fans should the club stick by Frank De Boer? Is it to soon to sack a manager? Let us know in the comments section…

Burnley close in on Nahki Wells

Burnley are closing in on the signing of Huddersfield Town striker, Nahki Wells, according to Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre Blog (12:59PM).

A move for Wells comes as Burnley seek to replace Andre Gray, who departed for Watford earlier this summer for £18.5m and the Clarets now appear to have found their replacement.

The Bermudan netted 10 times last season in Huddersfield’s charge to promotion, but amid a huge turnover of players at the John Smith’s Stadium this summer, Wells has fallen well down the pecking order.

Wells has been a long term target of Burnley’s and he was widely expected to make the move to Turf Moor in his days at Bradford, but the move never materialised.

The Terriers striker will add a different dimension to the Clarets’ attack, the electrifying pace to stretch a game, which none of Burnley’s other striking options currently have.

Wells’ arrival could spell the end of Ashley Barnes who now looks set to be surplus to requirements in East Lancashire.

Burnley are believed to have slapped a £10 million price tag on the head of Barnes, with Huddersfield and Newcastle amongst the sides interested.

Norwich should sign this prolific striker

Norwich City have made a disastrous start under the tenure of Daniel Farke. The Canaries have picked up just one league victory in five games and scored just six goals in their campaign so far.

Their one league victory came against Queens Park Rangers and since then, they have gone on to lose their next two games and conceded four goals in both. Despite conceding so many goals, the club has strength in depth in their defensive ranks so can rotate the squad to hopefully find the correct formula to keeping the opposition out.

One area of the pitch the club could do with adding bodies to though is up front, as they currently just have three strikers in Nelson Oliveira, Cameron Jerome and Marley Watkins. With this in mind the club should turn their attentions to Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes, who has been linked with a move away from Hillsborough.

Jordan Rhodes – Having had plenty of football league experience playing for no fewer than 10 clubs, the Scottish international is a prolific goal scorer in the Championship.

Rhodes scored over 160 goals for Huddersfield Town and Blackburn Rovers respectively and grabbed a brace in this seasons EFL Cup game for Sheffield Wednesday against Bolton Wanderers, showing that he certainly has an eye for goal.

Recent reports have suggested that Rhodes has been linked with a move away from Hillsborough and with the window shutting tomorrow the ‘Canaries’ are going to have to move quickly to add him to their ranks.

Norwich City fans would you like to see Jordan Rhodes join your club? Is he the man to fire you up the Championship table?…
