Karl Robinson must make this man his number one signing this summer

Karl Robinson has only been in charge of Oxford United for one game but he will have been assessing his squad and where he needs to improve ahead of next season. The new manager has already expressed an interest in having a U-23 side next season, showing he wants to make changes around ‘The Kassam’ stadium in order to give the club every opportunity of promotion to the Championship next campaign.

Having already had success at League One level with Milton Keynes Dons, Robinson knows exactly what is needed to get a team out of the division and in the summer will no doubt like any new manager going into a football club want to bring in his own players.

With that in mind, the new manager to should look to reunite himself with fullback Dean Lewington.

Dean Lewington – Having made over 500 appearances for MK Dons, the experienced fullback would be the perfect fit for Oxford United. The ‘Us’ have conceded 57 goals so far this season and Lewington’s experience could prove crucial to the club keeping more clean sheets next season and also helping them to promotion out of League One.

Lewington has a promotion on his CV as he was at Stadium MK at the same time as Robinson when they won promotion to the Championship and has already been reunited with Robinson as he was training with Charlton Athletic earlier this season.

It’s clear that both parties know each other well and have had success working together in the past and both of these factors could provide a foundation in helping Oxford United becoming a Championship team.

Oxford fans would you like to see Dean Lewington at the Kassam Stadium next season? Do you believe that his experience will help your team keep more clean sheets and gain promotion to the Championship? Let us know in the comments section…

Match Preview: Peterborough United v MK Dons

Big match on Tuesday for Posh fans, after the defeat at home to Bradford at the weekend Peterborough will be looking to bounce back against their rivals, MK Dons on Tuesday night.

MK have won three of the last five meetings between the two sides, two of those have come at London Road, the only exceptions are a 2-0 loss at StadiumMK and a 3-2 thriller in 2014, last time the Dons came to London Road they smashed the Posh 4-0 with goals from Harvey Barnes, Kieran Agard and a brace from Chuks Aneke.

MK come into this game only winning two of their last five games, the 1-0 win against Plymouth at the weekend and 2-0 against Brighton Under 21s in the Checkatrade Trophy, they sit 15th in League 1 with only seven points from six games only scoring four goals in those six games as well.

This is a huge match for both sides like any derby the intensity will be turned up for this fixture, MK will want to use this to help bring them up the table and start closing the gap to their rivals as Posh sit 3rd at the moment and MK are 15th, Posh will want to bounce back after the lose at the weekend and will want to avoid losing three in a row against the Dons.

Robbie Neilson had a huge overhaul of his team over the summer as well bringing in 19 new players with the likes of Osman Sow, Aidan Nesbitt and Ethan Ebanks-Landell coming in to help out their squad for the new campaign.

If anything I’m sure this match will have a lot of attacking football from both sides, as Posh showed at the weekend even in defeat they create a lot of chances so if anything is to go by it’s one of the highest scoring teams in the league against one of the lowest but as we’ve seen it happen many times before anything can happen in a derby.

Possible scores, 3-0 Posh or 4-1 Posh.

Big match on Tuesday for Posh fans, after the defeat at home to Bradford at the weekend Peterborough will be looking to bounce back against their rivals, MK Dons on Tuesday night.

Good news for Posh fans as well that they have won three of their last four meetings the only exception  was a 2-0 loss at MK last season and the last meeting they had at London Road was a 4-0 smashing by The Posh.

MK come into this game only winning two of their last five games, the 1-0 win against Plymouth at the weekend and 2-0 against Brighton Under 21s in the Checkatrade Trophy, they sit 15th in League 1 with only seven points from six games only scoring four goals in those six games as well.

This match is big for both sides as MK won’t want to make it four losses in a row against Peterborough and they will want to get momentum going into the rest of the season, whereas Peterborough will want to bounce back quickly from the loss at the weekend especially when a lot of their players said at the weekend that they wanted to challenge for the Play-offs this season.
